(Fremont County, WY) – A pedestrian who was reportedly lying in the roadway on WY 132 (aka Blue Sky Highway) was struck and killed on February 4, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) preliminary report posted on February 5.
The deceased has been identified as 58-year-old Wyoming man Aloysius Piper.
The incident occurred near milepost 8.3, at around 6:10 PM.
According to the available narrative, a combination unit was northbound on WY 132 outside of Ethete when it came upon a male, later determined to be Piper, lying in the northbound lane of travel
“Due to the unlit roadway, the driver was unable to see the male until he was almost upon him,” the narrative informs. “The driver… slammed on the brakes but was unable to avoid the male, striking him.”
Road and weather conditions were dry and clear at the time, and the driver was uninjured, the report states.
There have been eight deaths to date on Wyoming roadways in 2026.
