Wyoming isn’t just where I live—it’s home. I grew up on a ranch near Rawlins, where I learned the importance of hard work, keeping your word, and serving your neighbors. Those values have guided every step of my career, and they’re why I’m running to become Wyoming’s next Secretary of State.
My name is Charles “CJ” Young, and I’ve spent my career serving Wyoming in a variety of ways. I served as Wyoming’s Elections Director, helping administer elections and working alongside county clerks across our state. I’ve owned a Wyoming small business, served as Military and Veterans Liaison for Wyoming’s congressional delegation, and today continue serving our country as a U.S. Navy Reserve intelligence officer.
Those experiences have shown me that the Secretary of State’s office isn’t about politics—it’s about service. The office exists to protect our elections, help Wyoming businesses succeed, safeguard important state records, and serve every community fairly, whether you live in Riverton, Lander, Dubois, Shoshoni, Pavillion, or anywhere else across our great state.
Fremont County reminds us what makes Wyoming special. Agriculture, energy, outdoor recreation, and tourism all play an important role in the local economy. Visitors come from around the world to experience Wyoming’s history, public lands, and unmatched outdoor opportunities, supporting local businesses, restaurants, hotels, outfitters, and countless family-owned operations. As Secretary of State, I want to continue promoting a business climate that encourages investment while preserving the Wyoming way of life that draws people here in the first place.
My priorities are straightforward.
I want to continue strengthening election integrity so every eligible voter can have confidence that their vote counts. I believe Wyoming’s county clerks are among the finest election professionals in the country, and they deserve a Secretary of State who listens, supports them, and works alongside them—not above them.
I also want to modernize the Business Division so entrepreneurs and small businesses can interact with state government more efficiently. Wyoming has built one of the nation’s strongest reputations for business, and we should continue earning that reputation every day through excellent customer service and responsible leadership.
Above all, I want to be a Secretary of State for all of Wyoming. Every county matters. Every community deserves to be heard. Whether you’re raising a family, operating a ranch, opening a small business, or welcoming visitors to experience everything Wyoming has to offer, you deserve a state government that works professionally and treats every citizen with respect.
