Roughly 140 firefighters are battling a wildfire that’s burning in southwest Wyoming.
The fire is 25 miles south of Rock Springs and has, as of Wednesday afternoon, burned 19 square miles. It is burning on federal, state, and private land.
Thus far there have been no evacuations or road closures. Rough terrain is affecting the ability to fight the fire, and air resources are being used.
Fire crews are attempting to keep the blaze away from a sage grouse habitat, grazing allotments, and oil and gas infrastructure.
No structures have been damaged in the fire so far. The fire was detected last Saturday following a series of thunderstorms in the area.
