The 42nd annual Wind River Rodeo Roundup kicked off Monday night under a warm summer sky. The opening night of PRCA action at this year’s Fremont County Fair had a full house with packed grandstands. As part of Military Appreciation Night, America’s servicemen and women were honored.
The long-standing rodeo brought local cowboys and cowgirls into competition with many highly ranked athletes from all over the United States.
The bull riding is an open event while all the others are sanctioned by the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). While no PRCA sanctioned cowboys had a qualifying 8-second bull ride, amateur rider Jace Mitchell from Crowheart held on for a score. Mitchell earned an 82 score on his ride.
The rodeo continues Tuesday evening for the annual Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night supporting Fremont County’s Tough Enough Fund to support those battling cancer.

Barrel Racing: Shelly Hrubochak from Pinedale, WY: 17.57 seconds
