Riverton and Lander 4×100 meter relay teams enjoyed each other before the race – Randy Tucker

Lander’s girls ran away with the varsity division of the Riverton/Lander dual on Tuesday afternoon, for a perfect day for track and field at Wolverine Track. The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Wolverines 96-38 behind four first-place finishes from junior Paisley Hollingshead. Hollingshead won the long and high jump and swept both hurdle events for four individual titles.

Riverton dominated the throws with Ashyln Jones winning the shot put and Alexis Taylor the discus.

The Riverton boys dominated the Tigers by a similar score, 93-41. Jameson Spradlin led Riverton with wins in the 200 and 400-meter dashes and a first in the long jump.

In the hurdles, Clay Sheets posted career bests in the 110-meter-high hurdles with a time of 15.97 and the 300-meter intermediates with a 40.40 finish.

The hurdle races were among the most competitive in the meet, with Sheets and Gage Treber holding off Lander’s Cody West in the highs, and Sheets beating West on a lean in the long hurdles.

The upcoming weekend is in question with a spring storm predicted to hit the Cowboy State beginning late Thursday evening.
