(Fremont County, WY) – The Riverton Wolverines are the only local team ranked as we head into week one of the high school football season. They were also the only local team to play a game that counted in Zero Week, beating Powell 31-14 on the road.
The latest WyoPreps.com Coaches & Media Rankings have Riverton still in third place in class 3A, behind a unanimous Star Valley at #1 and Cody at #2. The Braves traveled to Soldotna, Alaska and beat one of the top Alaskan teams last week. Jackson is #4 and Douglas ranks #5. That slight shift booted Lander out of the rankings. The Tigers had been the preseason #5 ranked team. LVHS held a controlled scrimmage against both Lyman and Glenrock last week.
Big Horn is a unanimous #1 in class 2A followed by Mountain View, Torrington, Thermopolis and Lovell. Sheridan holds a unanimous top spot in class 4A. Cheyenne East, Cheyenne Central, Natrona County and Campbell County are also ranked.
Polls did not change for 1A 6-man and 1A 9-man this week.
