In a huge meet in Cheyenne, Riverton and Wyoming Indian competed against mostly Class 4-A teams, along with three squads from Colorado.
Roosevelt High School from just down Interstate 25 in Johnstown, Colorado, won the meet in a close race with Kelly Walsh. Roosevelt tallied 73 to the Trojans’ 78.
Wyoming Indian finished 11th with 299 points and Riverton 12th at 316. There were 18 teams in the meet.
Riverton junior Ridge Rieman led the Fremont County effort, finishing 10th in a time of 17:54.79.
For the girls, Kelly Walsh dominated the meet with 35 points, placing four girls in the top 10. Riverton had a solid showing, finishing sixth behind freshman Robin Clapp, who was 12th overall.
A college meet followed the high school competition.
The Wolverines and Lady Wolverines are home this week, hosting the annual Berry Bryant/Kyle Johnson Memorial.
The high school and middle school begin competition Thursday at 3 p.m. at the course at the 1838 Rendezvous Site.
