(Riverton, WY) – It was another close game for the Riverton Wolverines late Friday night against Jackson. Big Red won the hard-fought contest 45-40 to even their season at 1-1.
The Jackson Hole Broncs and the Wolverines have similar situations this season with both graduating almost their entire first seven players from last year.
Riverton jumped to an early lead, but Jackson showed good poise, clawing back into the game and making another nail biter for fans in the final minutes of the game.
Riverton’s front line of Malachi Smith and Ryan Cox again dominated in the paint with Smith swatting a few close range shots and changing Jackson’s shot selection.
The guards played much better as well, cutting down on turnovers and handling the ball well late when the Wolverines were running out the clock.
The Strannigan Classic concludes Saturday with the Wolverines playing the Cheyenne East Thunderbirds in the final game of the tournament at 6:30 pm.
