(Shoshoni, WY) – Shoshoni officials guessed correctly in moving Thursday’s scheduled Wrangler Invitational Track Meet to Tuesday in advance of the winter storm that rolled through Fremont County on the original scheduled day of the meet.
An abbreviated group of schools arrived to excellent conditions on Tuesday with Kemmerer winning the girls division with 154 points and Thermopolis, Shoshoni, Greybull, Riverside and Wind River finishing within 10 points between second and sixth place.
The Thermopolis boys dominated the meet with an impressive 287 points, more than doubling second place Kemmerer with 140.
Individually Fremont County girls won three individual events and one relay. Olivia Remacle of Wind River won the 800 meter run, Izelee Hereford of Ft. Washakie the 3200 meter run and Shoshoni’s Prestly Barta cleared 5-0 to win the high jump.
The Shoshoni 4×100 meter relay team of Peyton Arnhold, Sawyer Arnhold, Sway Fike, and Addie Mason won the sprint relay in 54.02.
For the boys from County 10, there were two individual champions, both in the hurdles. Zander Hawkins of Dubois won the 110-meter-high hurdles on the same track where he broke his ankle in regional track action just 11 months ago.
Shoshoni’s Oakley Hicks won the 300-meter intermediate race.
