(Pavillion, WY) – Shoshoni moved to 8-3 on the season after a 76-42 win at rival Wind River in Pavillion on Tuesday Evening. The loss was the 10th of the year for the Cougars who remain in search of their first win.
Wind River played well early, trading basket-for-basket with the Wranglers throughout the opening period. They led the game 3-0 on a Tanner Walker 3-pointer and held off the Wranglers briefly at scores of 5-2 and 5-4, but momentum shifted to Shoshoni in the second period.
The Wranglers went wild on a 25-2 run in the second, effectively blowing the game open.
Stetson St. Clair led the charge with three 3-pointers in the period and seven total Shoshoni players scored.
Wind River’s only points came on a Darrian Perry layup.
The second half was much more even, but the Cougars trailed by 30 for most of the final two periods.
Ford David had a great floor game, leading the Cougars with 15 points. Perry added a dozen.
For Shoshoni, St. Clair scored 19, and seniors Quinton Clark and Morgan Neil tallied 11 each.
Both teams head north for the Big Horn Basin Shootout this upcoming Friday and Saturday.
