(Shoshoni, WY) – When you’re on, you’re on, and the Wranglers were on Tuesday night in Shoshoni. In a 68-34 win over rival Wind River, the Wranglers rained in 11 3-point shots. The game was shortened via the Mercy Rule when Shoshoni took a 59-19 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Wind River led 2-0 just seconds into the game on a Ford David drive, but the next six minutes were all Wranglers as Shoshoni rolled on a 15-0 run fueled by a pair of Caden Kisling treys that barely moved the net as they swished through the cotton.
Jordan Gilbertson added another 3-point shot, and Oakley Hicks scored twice in the paint during the run.
Kisling finished with five 3-pointers and 27 points overall to lead all scorers. Gilbertson hit three treys, and Andrew Garcia added another pair of shots from beyond the arc.
The Cougars had a size advantage, but Shoshoni’s ball movement, collapsing defense, and tough perimeter play kept Wind River at bay.
The Wranglers led 36-19 at the half but put the game away in the third quarter with a 25-3 period. Wind River’s only points came from a Zane David drive down the lane and a free throw from Josh Gallagher.
Kisling led the charge in the third period with 14 points, six of those on long-range 3-point shots.
Garcia and Gilbertson joined Kisling in double figures with 12 and 13 points, respectively.
David paced the Cougars with 13.
Wind River plays in the Big Horn Basin Shootout this weekend, with games in Thermopolis on Friday. They face Burlington at noon and host Thermopolis at 3 pm.
Shoshoni travels to Basin today to play Riverside.
