One of Wyoming’s largest coal producers, Cloud Peak Energy, has slashed 15 jobs this week, including the majority of its lobbying team.
The Casper Star-Tribune confirmed the report from the company on Monday.
Cloud Peak owns and operates the Antelope and Cordero mines near Gillette, as well as mines in Montana.
The company released the information to employees last week, and said the cuts were made, “in response to the current challenges in the coal market.”
In December, the New York Stock Exchange warned the company it could be delisted if the weak stock performance continued in 2019.
