The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) is pleased to announce that all Wyoming inmates previously housed at the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility (TCCF) in Tallahatchie, Mississippi, have been successfully returned to WDOC-operated facilities.
“Bringing these individuals back home to their families has always been a top priority,” said WDOC Director, Daniel Shannon. The WDOC recognizes the struggles of hiring correctional staff as well as our facilities being at capacity. Our agency will continue to do our very best to maintain all Wyoming inmates within the state moving forward. WDOC continues to aggressively recruit new correctional staff. Additionally, the Department is working in close collaboration with Wyoming county jails to manage capacity and prevent future out-of-state reassignments.
The successful and safe completion of such a major undertaking was made possible through strong inter-agency cooperation. The WDOC extends its sincere gratitude to its internal Special Operations team for their exemplary work. Furthermore, the WDOC recognizes TransCor for providing safe, secure, and orderly transportation of the inmates from Mississippi back to Wyoming. Also a special thanks to the Laramie Regional Airport staff. The Department would like to recognize and send appreciation to the Laramie Police Department and Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and Rawlins Police Department, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol who were all on standby and ready to provide assistance as needed throughout the operation.
