Director Daniel Shannon of the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Deputy Warden (DW) Shawn Hobson as Warden of the Wyoming State Penitentiary (WSP). The promotion is effective March 9, 2026, with his transition coordinated by the Prison Division.
DW Hobson has been a resident of the Rawlins community for a number of years and brings a robust background in discipline, strategic thinking, and mission-driven leadership to his role, honed through service in the United States Marine Corps and subsequent experience in law enforcement.
These foundational experiences provided him with significant operational knowledge and the proven ability to lead teams effectively in demanding, high-pressure situations.
Throughout his career with the WDOC, DW Hobson has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, marked by integrity, accountability, and professionalism. He has successfully progressed through the ranks, holding positions including Sergeant, Captain, Security Manager, and most recently, Deputy Warden at the WSP.
He continues to focus on enhancing institutional security, supporting correctional staff, and advancing the department’s crucial mission of public safety and offender rehabilitation.
