(Fremont County, WY) – The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is conducting an investigation into the allegation of illegal controlled substances being sold from two associated commercial buildings in Fremont County, according to a release issued by WDCI today, March 17.

“On March 17, 2026, the investigation progressed to executing search warrants in Fremont
County. Search warrants were conducted at 900 East Webbwood, Riverton, Wyoming and 1000 Main Street, Lander, Wyoming.
“DCI is aware of public concern regarding a Hazmat trailer that was seen at a search warrant location. We would like to reassure the community that there was no danger to the public. The trailer was utilized strictly for logistical purposes and the secure transport of items seized during the search.
“As this is an active and ongoing investigation, no further details regarding seized items or potential arrests can be released at this time. DCI remains committed to working alongside our law enforcement partners to remove dangerous substances from Wyoming communities. Additionally, Lander Police Department Chief Kelly Waugh shared the following release in conjunction with WDCI’s.
“The Lander Police Department is currently assisting the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) with an active investigation in the Fremont County Area. At the request of DCI, our agency is providing support and resources to aid in the ongoing investigative efforts.
“Due to the nature of this case and to protect the integrity of the investigation, specific details are not being released at this time. There is no known threat to the public related to this incident. Community members may have noticed an increased law enforcement presence in the area as the investigation continues.
“All inquiries regarding this case should be directed to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, which is the lead agency. The Lander Police Department remains committed to working collaboratively with our law enforcement partners to ensure a thorough and professional investigation.”
