(Riverton, WY) – The Wyoming Fire Service has some deep-rooted traditions: honor, pride, integrity, and valor, to name a few. With these ideals in mind, the Wyoming State Fire Marshal’s Office created the Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame. Since 2019, fire departments and fire service organizations have submitted nominations for this honor and recognition.
The purpose of the Wyoming Fire Service Hall of Fame is to recognize the accomplishments
and achievements of all first responders from various response agencies or departments who, in their service to the community and citizens of Wyoming, have excelled in their dedication and service.
To qualify for this recognition, the individuals are nominated, and a fire department or agency submits accomplishments. Then, those applications are reviewed by an independent committee. The application must prove that the firefighter has significantly contributed to the Wyoming Fire Service and the citizens of the State of Wyoming. Those nominated and approved must have had an impact beyond the community they served, and their influence must have been recognized statewide. This recognition has been proven to be a continuing involvement that will provide a long-lasting benefit to the state and the Wyoming Fire Service.
The Wyoming Fire Service and the State of Wyoming is honored to have the following
individuals inducted into the Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame.

Arthur “Ray” Bergquist, Wyoming State Forestry
Ken Sutton, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, Teton County
Lynda Berckefeldt, Wyoming State Forestry
Mark Young, Casper Fire-EMS, Wyoming State Fire Marshal
Ray Weidenhalft, Wyoming State Forestry
Steve Haines, Johnson County Fire
The ceremony will be on August 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wyoming Fire Academy located at 2500 Academy Court in Riverton. This will be held in conjunction with the Wyoming Fallen
Firefighters Memorial at 1 p.m.
