(Wyoming) – Data was recently collected from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding semi-truck crashes in the United States. Between 2019-2023 Wyoming had the highest rate in the country, averaging nearly 27 large truck crashes per year.
That data was broken down further for analysis by Michael T. Gibson, an Orlando-based car accident lawyer. Wyoming’s semi-truck crash per resident rate breaks down to 4.62 crashes per 100,000 residents. That is nearly 2.7 times the national average and over 13 times higher than the state with the least semi crashes… Hawaii.
Wyoming ranks second nationally when it comes to a category Gibson called, “crash to legal searches.” He created an index score based on population versus online searches for legal advice about big rig crashes. Missouri is the only state with a higher index score in this category.
Wyoming recorded 33 semi crashes in 2019, 23 in 2020, 18 in 2021, 27 in 2022 and 33 in 2023.
