(Wyoming) – WyoPreps.com has released the first coaches & media volleyball poll of the season. Action for many teams across the state begins this weekend with several large tournaments scheduled, including one in Fremont County at Lander Valley High School Friday and Saturday.
Just one local team received a vote in the preseason rankings, class 1A’s Dubois Rams. Ultimately, DHS did not rank in the top 5 however. Cokeville and Little Snake River battled it out for the top spot. Southeast, Upton and Burlingotn also received enough votes to rank in the top 5.
In class 2A, last year’s champions Big Horn hold the top spot. Tongue River and Greybull both received 2 first place votes, and Sundance tallied 1.
3A’s runner-up Cody Fillies are ranked #1 to begin the year while defending champions Douglas come in at the second spot. Lovell, and Powell rank 3 and 4. A log jam tie for the 5th spot placed Torrington, Mountain View and Wheatland all in the #5 spot.
Finally in 4A, Laramie narrowly edged Kelly Walsh as the favorite this season. In last year’s 4A championship game, it was KW topping Laramie. Sheridan, Thunder Basin and Cheyenne East ranked in the preseason poll.
