Wyoming lawmakers are in a fierce debate this week over marking it easier to terminate parental rights when sexual assault results in childbirth.
Wyoming House of Representative members debated Tuesday on a bill that may or may not have “unintended consequences.”
The House voted 35-24 to not agree with changes made by the Wyoming Senate according to an Associated Press release. The bill now goes to a committee where lawmakers from both chambers will discuss it further.
Proponents say the bill would help discourage abortion in cases of sexual assault, opponents argue the bill is written too broadly for certain situations.
