The Wyoming Coaches Association handed out their 2019 winter Coach of the Year awards to recipients from each of the Wyoming high school winter sports, in each class.
Four Fremont County coaches made the top honor, including two from Lander Valley High School and two from Wyoming Indian High School.
WIHS basketball swept the 2A boys and girls basketball championships this season. That was the first time ever that both the Chiefs and Lady Chiefs have won the title in the same year.
Lady Chiefs head coach Aleta Moss and Chiefs head coach Craig Ferris won the Coach of the Year awards in 2A basketball.
Lander’s boys also brought a title home to Fremont County this March. Stuart Mullins, Tigers head coach took the award for 3A boys.
And, it almost seems obvious to say it at this point, but Lander boys swimmers won again. 22 state championships in a row. They were led by Shawna Morgan, who was the 3A boys swim coach of the year.
