As the United States prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary in 2026, the Wyoming Semiquincentennial Planning Task Force, in partnership with the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources, invites residents, organizations, and communities across the state to take part in America’s Potluck — a nationwide initiative encouraging people to gather, share food, and celebrate what unites us.
America’s Potluck is a signature program of the America 250 commemoration, designed to foster connection through one of our most universal traditions: sharing a meal. From small backyard gatherings to community picnics and neighborhood block parties, each event is an opportunity for reflection, storytelling, and celebration of the diverse communities that make up our nation.
“Wyoming feels like one small town stretched across endless streets, and it’s that sense of connection that defines us,” said Nick Neylon, member of the Wyoming Semiquincentennial Planning Task Force and deputy director of State Parks and Cultural Resources. “America’s Potluck embodies that spirit. It invites every town and neighborhood to celebrate this historic anniversary in a simple, timeless way, by coming together around the table.”
Residents are encouraged to start planning their 2026 potluck events now. Whether hosted by families, local governments, schools, nonprofits, or civic groups, these events will showcase Wyoming’s welcoming communities and the unique traditions that bring people together across the state.
