A Wyoming legislative committee has advanced a bill that would require a mandatory 48 hour waiting period for a person in the state planning to have an abortion.
According to a Casper Star-Tribune report, House Bill 140 passed the House Judiciary Committee on a 6-3 vote Tuesday and will go to the House floor now for more debate.
The proposed bill requires women to wait 48 hours after receiving that information before undergoing the procedure.
The only exemption in the bill would be if the abortion is a life-saving procedure. The Wyoming Legislature has been hesitant to approve abortion-related legislated over the last ten years. Since 2009, only two of eleven bills relating to abortion have been approved.
