(Cheyenne, WY) – The Wyoming Legislature concluded its 2026 Budget Session and adjourned on Wednesday at the State Capitol in Cheyenne, concluding weeks of work that began on Feb. 9.
During the session, a total of 335 bills and resolutions were numbered for introduction.
The Legislature ultimately passed 114 bills through both chambers:
- Senate: 101 bills introduced, 72 bills passed both chambers
- House: 91 bills introduced, 42 bills passed both chambers
- Amendments: 837 total amendments numbered across both chambers
- Committee bills: 65 committee-sponsored bills passed both chambers (57 percent)
- Individually sponsored bills: 49 individually-sponsored bills passed both chambers (22 percent)
The Legislature adopted the State’s 2027-2028 biennial budget on March 2, concluding a months-long review and deliberation process.
The final budget includes net appropriations of $10.10 billion from all funds, including $3.46 billion in state general funds – this is $33.8 million lower in all funds and $1.9 million lower in state general funds compared to the total requests by the governor and the judicial branch for state government operations, not including capital construction.
Both chambers engaged in extensive debate on the budget where the House considered 247 amendments to the budget and adopted 37, while the Senate debated 72 amendments and adopted 37 amendments.
A Joint Conference Committee later reconciled differences between the two chambers’ versions.
Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon signed the budget bill on March 5 and issued several line-item vetoes.
The Legislature voted by a two-thirds majority in both chambers to override four of those vetoes, finalizing the State’s 2027-2028 biennial budget.
Additionally, the Legislature approved two significant K-12 education measures.
The K-12 school finance recalibration bill includes a $275 million appropriation for Wyoming’s School Foundation Program.
The Legislature further adopted a K-12 school facilities bill which includes $393.7 million in appropriations to build and maintain public school facilities across the state.
All other bills approved by both chambers have been sent to Gordon for executive action.

The Legislature’s interim work will begin in the coming weeks.
The Management Council is scheduled to meet on April 1 to assign interim committee topics, and the first round of interim meetings will begin in late April.
