A Jackson man has been fined for illegally hunting elk antlers on federal land in Wyoming during the winter when the season was closed to the public.
Joshua Anders Rae was sentenced to a fine of $15,000 and was stripped of hunting privileges for 5 years by U.S. Magistrate R. Michael Shickich in Casper this week.
K2 Radio reported that the Wyoming U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman, Mark Trimble, said Rae was stashing the antlers as part of a collection, then ultimately selling the pieces he collected as dog chews.
Rae pleaded guilty to possessing and transporting 104 lbs of illegally taken antlers.
