Chief Federal District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl sentenced BARRY LAYNE WALKER, 60, of Casper, Wyoming on February 4, 2019 for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Walker was arrested in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received ninety-two months of imprisonment, to be followed by sixty months of supervised release, and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $200.00. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, US Drug Enforcement Administration, and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency investigated this case.
In 2017, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation began investigating an on-going drug trafficking organization operating in Wyoming and Colorado. Agents identified the numerous individuals involved, operating together to distribute methamphetamine obtained from Colorado in the Natrona County, Wyoming, area. As early as September of 2017, large quantities of methamphetamine were being purchased through the use of controlled buys with undercover agents. Through the investigation, several pounds of methamphetamine and other controlled substances were seized, as well as firearms. Several of the individuals involved had lengthy prior criminal histories, including prior arrests and convictions for possessing and distributing controlled substances and firearms violations.
