(Riverton, WY) – Wyoming PBS CEO Joanna Kail has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA). Kail will begin her three-year term on July 1.
NETA is one of the nation’s premier service organizations committed to strengthening and amplifying public media’s education mission. As a non-profit membership organization, NETA provides essential leadership, support, and services to public media licensees, their affinity groups, and the broader public media system.
“I’m honored to join the NETA Board and to help further the important work being done across the country to ensure public media continues to serve and educate our communities,” says Kail. “This opportunity reflects the shared commitment of Wyoming PBS and NETA to deliver meaningful, educational content to all audiences.”
After serving as Executive Director of the Wyoming PBS Foundation for seven years, Kail moved into the role of CEO for Wyoming PBS in 2023. She is dedicated to championing statewide educational initiatives and local programming that reflect Wyoming’s unique culture and values. Under her leadership, the station has expanded its digital presence and deepened its collaborations with local independent producers, partners, and community organizations.
NETA is the primary facilitator for several nationwide public media affinity groups that assist stations with staying connected and working together in smaller cohorts, but within similar structural boundaries. Wyoming PBS has been a member of three of these groups for several decades—OSBE (Organization of Statewide Broadcasting Executives), SSA (Small Station Association), and the ULA (University Licensee Association). Through these affinity groups, stations are able to collaborate on a microscale about best practices, professional development, educational content, resources, and programming ideas.
