(Wyoming) – A 2025 national study ranking the best and worst places in the United States for children’s healthcare has provided some alarming numbers for folks in Wyoming.
WalletHub’s study took many factors into the list including; states with access to pediatricians, percentage of uninsured children, states where children are in the best and worst health and much more.
Based on this criteria, Wyoming ranks 49th out of the 50 U.S. states plus Washington D.C. Wyoming ranked 50th in the nation in percentage of insured children, we also tied for 49th in percentage of children with “unaffordable medical bills.”
The only states ranking lower overall than Wyoming included Texas and Mississippi.

Best vs. Worst
- Massachusetts has the lowest share of uninsured children aged 0 to 18, which is 7.9 times lower than in Texas, the highest.
- Rhode Island has the lowest share of children aged 0 to 17 with unaffordable medical bills, which is 2.4 times lower than in Texas, the highest.
- The District of Columbia has the most pediatricians per 100,000 residents, which is 25.5 times more than in Oklahoma, the fewest.
- New Hampshire and Vermont have the lowest share of obese children aged 10 to 17, which is 2.2 times lower than in Mississippi, the highest.
