Wyoming ranks as the 41st state in America in drug-related deaths per year, per capita.
Wyoming averages 12.2 deaths per 100,000 residents. That number has significantly declined from the last several decades and continues to lessen nearly every year for the last ten.
While roughly 60 deaths per year is still significant in the state with the lowest population, it’s a far cry from West Virginia’s 57.8 deaths per 100,000. Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and New Hampshire also make up the worst 5 drug deaths per capita states.
The least amount of deaths from drug overdoses belongs to our neighbors to the east, Nebraska.
Neighbors South Dakota, North Dakota, and Montana, along with Texas and Iowa also ranked very low in drug deaths per year.
