(Wyoming) – We KNOW you were wondering…
Wyoming apparently is one of the worst places in the United States for the consumption of bugs. That might be a relief to some of you, but we were a little curious as to why when we saw this list come out.
Digital outlet, Lawn Starter, tallied data from all over the country about edible species of bugs, restaurants that already serve insect cuisine, Google search interest and much more.
And while they get into quite a few details about their survey, the TLDR version is; Wyoming has a lot of bugs, but residents have very little interest in eating them.
Overall, we rank 49th on their list of “best places to eat bugs.” That includes all 50 states plus Washington D.C. Wyoming does rank as the 4th best “climate for bug consumption,” however we are 44th when it comes to “bug eating interest” and 50th in “access rank.” I guess your local neighborhood restaurant isn’t serving many crickets and worms… yet.
Vermont, Rhode Island, Montana, Alaska and the District of Columbia also apparently rank very low on the “best places to eat bugs scale.”
And for those of you who have developed an appetite while reading this, California, New York, North Carolina, Minnesota and Florida are the best places to get your grub on… pun intended.
