Wyoming’s varying temperatures are just one reason that our energy costs are highest in the United States. And, it’s really not even close.
Wyoming ranks number one in monthly home heating costs, at $1,087 / month. Because it’s necessary to travel long distances between communities, Wyoming also ranks as the most expensive place for motor-fuel costs at $278 / month.
Wallet Hub estimates that we spend an average of $107 / month on natural gas, ranking 13th highest in the country. On the “good news” side of things, Cowboy State resident’s pay much less for electricity than the country. An average of $119 / month puts us at 45th in the U.S.
