According to a Dean Runyan Associates report, visitors that came to Wyoming in 2018 spent more than $3.8 billion in 2018 which was a 6.8% increase from 2017.
The Wyoming Office of Tourism showed a steady increase in traveler spending, and that trend has steadily seen an increase since 2007.
Wyoming saw 8.9 million overnight visitors in 2018, which was also up 2% from the previous year.
According to an Associated Press report, the leisure and hospitality industry in Wyoming supports over 32,000 jobs, making it the largest private sector employer in Wyoming.
Travelers spending generates about $196 million in both local and in state tax revenue every year.
A proposed lodging tax failed in the Legislature this year. The tax proposal was designed as an idea to help increase tourism promotion.
