Members of the Wyoming Senate and House of Representatives selected their leadership and finalized committee assignments for the 68th Wyoming Legislature following party caucuses last month.
The leadership slate includes Wyoming Sen. Tim Salazar, R-Riverton, who was nominated as Vice President of the Senate.
Salazar was also assigned to be the Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which formulates the state supplemental and biennium budget and approves state expenditures.
“It’s a privilege to be appointed to this influential chairmanship by the Senate President elect Biteman,” Salazar said in a press release this week. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in the legislature in the coming years and bringing needed property tax relief, providing a fiscally conservative budget, cutting government waste and supporting needed services for the People of Wyoming.”
Wyoming Sen. Cale Case, R-Lander, was assigned to be the Chair of the Senate Corporations, Elections, and Political Subdivisions Committee.
He was also assigned to the Senate Revenue Committee.
Wyoming Sen. Ed Cooper, R-Ten Sleep, whose district includes a portion of Fremont County, was assigned to the Senate Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee and the Senate Minerals, Business, and Economic Development Committee.
In the House, Wyoming Rep. John Winter, R-Thermopolis, whose district includes a portion of Fremont County, was assigned to be the Chair of the House Agriculture, State and Public Lands, and Water Resources Committee.
Wyoming Rep. Pepper Ottman, R-Riverton, was also assigned to the House Agriculture, State and Public Lands, and Water Resources Committee, as well as the House Labor, Health and Social Services Committee.
Representative-elect Joel Guggenmos was assigned to the House Labor, Health and Social Services Committee, too, as well as the House Education Committee.
Two Fremont County lawmakers were assigned to the House Transportation, Highways, and Military Affairs Committee: Wyoming Rep. Lloyd Larsen, R-Lander, and Representative-elect Ivan Posey.
Members of leadership will be formally confirmed, and newly elected legislators will be sworn-in, on Jan. 14.
Additional assignments for select committees, task forces and miscellaneous committees will be made available in March, following the legislative session.
