Wyoming Senators have approved a tax break for companies that provide internet and telecommunications in rural parts of the state.
A bill was approved by Senate by a 17-12 vote Tuesday and now heads to the House of Representatives.
According to an Associated Press report, the bill gives tax breaks to telecom companies that would provide residential download speeds of at least 25 megabits per second.
Several senators argued against the bill, expressing opinions that it would do little to boost internet services.
Proponents said that even small investments in rural broadband could make a huge difference.
