Data released this week from the United States Census Bureau shows that Wyoming has decreased in population for a third straight year between July 1, 2016 and July 1, 2017.
Overall, Wyoming lost roughly 1,200 people during that time frame.
Specifically, Casper lost about 1,000 residents, while Gillette lost about 1,700 Meanwhile, Cheyenne and Laramie went opposite of the trend and gained more residents.
Data from the Census Bureau shows that Wyoming’s population estimate for 2018 is 577,737 people. The median age in Wyoming is 37.2 years.
From the latest breakdown in 2010, an estimated 51% of Wyoming residents were male, to 49% female. In the 2010 survey, 92.8% of Wyoming residents were Caucasian, 10% Hispanic or Latino, 2.7% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 1.3% African American.
92.8% said they had graduated high school or received an equivalent certificate. Just 26.7% said they had a bachelor’s degree or higher.
14.5% of persons of 65 years of age said they did not have health insurance, and 9% of persons under 65 said they had a disability.
