(Ethete, WY) – The diverse array of musical talent from Wyoming Indian High School students was on full display at last week’s Wyoming Indian High School Christmas Holiday Music Program, which is organized each year by certified K-12 music instructor Nancy Seiler, along with Traditional Club Sponsors Sandra Iron Cloud and Michael Ridge Bear (who also served as the lights/sound engineer).
Seiler directed the kiddos through each of the musical segments, providing guidance, encouragement, and musical accompaniment for their performances (she also sang ‘Silent Night’ in both English and Arapaho).
All skill levels were celebrated throughout the night, with some students performing guitar riffs or piano segments for the first time in front of a crowd, and others, like Trace Spotted Elk, who played guitar and sang the entirety of Zach Bryan’s ‘Something in the Orange.’
Spotted Elk was later joined by his fellow drummers/drumline for performances of ‘We Will Rock You,’ ‘William Tell,’ the UW pep song ‘California,’ and student/crowd favorite ‘Jig 2,’ which you can watch below.
The senior students who participate in the music programs were also honored and recognized, including Anthony Arthur, Seth Spoonhunter, Blayden Norse, Aiken McCabe, Martin Underwood, Marley C’Hair, Noah Red Willow, Ruby Burton, Anessa White, and Rachael DuShane.
The evening closed out with a performance from the Traditional Club Dancers, turkey basket and prize giveaways from assistant principal Kevin Ley, and snacks/refreshments for attendees as they departed.
