All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Riverton Police Department announced on October 10th, 2019 Rachelle Lynch, 21, of Riverton was arrested for manslaughter in connection with the death of 20-year-old Joshua Friday.
Lynch is facing two counts manslaughter – felony, with a maximum penalty of imprisonment for no more than 20 years. Her preliminary hearing is set for Friday, October 18th, 2019 in Riverton’s Circuit Court.
Court documents state on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019 at 3:22 pm the Riverton Police Department (RPD) was dispatched to 1315 S. Federal Blvd. where they found Friday deceased. Friday reportedly had “an approximate 1 and 1/2 inch clean-edged hole in his right lower abdomen.”

RPD had been dispatched to 1315 S. Federal Blvd. space #28 on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019 at approximately 4:59 am for a reported fight, “where individuals involved were reportedly brandishing knives.” Court documents state the responding officer “did not observe anyone with knives.”
Officers allegedly found blood drops leading from Friday’s location to space #28 where RPD responded earlier that morning. While officers were investigating the scene they spoke with Lynch who was at the residence.
Lynch reported early in the morning on October 8th she had been drinking with Friday and another person in a vehicle outside of space #28. Friday allegedly “began to beat her and tried to drag her out of the vehicle.” Lynch became angered and “went looking for a weapon.”
In the court documents, Lynch reports she grabbed a knife and swung it at Friday once. The knife Lynch allegedly described to the officers was found next to the kitchen sink and “suspected blood was observed to be on the knife.”
A witness reported to the officers that both Lynch and Friday had knives. Lynch did not believe Friday had a knife at the time she swung hers at him. Court documents note a knife was found outside the residence matching the description the witness reported.
Court documents state, “At this time, an autopsy has not yet been completed on Friday, however, it is believed the apparent stab wound to his torso is the cause of his death.”
