(Fremont County, WY) – A 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook many homes and buildings in the Fremont County area Friday evening, December 12, around 5:40 PM, according to data from the United States Geological Survey.
The epicenter of the earthquake was at 42.520°N 108.381°W, about 17 miles east of Atlantic City, at a depth of 11.5 km (about 7 miles).

Social media accounts indicate the quake was felt in Atlantic City, Lander, Sinks Canyon, Hudson, and as far away as Riverton and the Rawlins Junction, with most reports stating that houses shook/rattled, or felt like something had run into them.
At this time, no structural damage or emergencies have been reported in relation to the earthquake, according to the Fremont County Emergency Management Agency.
“At this time, we have not received reports of significant damage or injuries, but we are monitoring and coordinating with local partners,” the FCEMA shared.
