(Shoshoni, WY) – The local Quilts of Valor Foundation volunteers presented four Veterans with a Quilt of Valor on Saturday afternoon.
Veterans who received quilts today include Stephen McIntosh (Army), Raymond “Pete” Peterson (U.S. Air Force), Charles Collver (Marines) and Derek Griffin (Army). Between the four of them, their dates of service range from 1959 to 2021.
QOV are handmade and awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war – “The Quilt says unequivocally, ‘Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation,’” according to the QOVF mission statement.
Fremont County has two QOV groups – one serves the majority of Fremont County and the other serves the Dubois area. The group presenting today shared they have been around for about 12 years and have given out over 1,000 quilts.
