(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, October 11, the weather will become a bit more unsettled as the expected low-pressure center and associated trough slowly treks toward the Rocky Mountains, and the broad circulation around it draws up tropical moisture northward from Hurricane Priscilla way down off the Mexican coast.
We can expect widely scattered showers and afternoon thunderstorms from this weather scenario, Lipson added; however, most of the precipitation will be to our west along and west of the Continental Divide. Expect southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, along with 40 to 45 mph wind gusts for any thunderstorms. Small hail is also possible with any thunderstorms that do develop this afternoon. Tonight, widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the evening, with partly cloudy skies and southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.
The National Weather Service in Riverton also reported that highs will vary across the 10 today, with the South Pass Area in the upper 50s, Dubois//Jeffrey City in the 60s, and Lander/Riverton/Shoshoni in the lower 70s. Lows tonight will be in the 40s for most.
