(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that a trough of low pressure is approaching from the west today, September 3, as well as an associated cold front.
Lipson says these features will result in some afternoon thunderstorms, beginning over the east slope of the Wind River Mountains and Lander Foothills, which will then make their way across the rest of the Basin, including the Riverton area, over the course of the rest of the afternoon.
Some of these storms will have very strong wind gusts (up to 45 mph) for brief periods of time, Lipson added, but for the most part they will be in the 15-30 mph range, going west-southwest.
The risk of widely scattered thunderstorms and heavy winds continues into tonight, under partly cloudy skies.
The National Weather Service in Riverton has also shared that high temperatures will be in the 80’s for most today, with lows tonight in the 50’s.
