The Fremont County Library System is pleased to announce the first adult summer reading program of the season: Book Excavation! Sample a diverse range of books while enjoying light refreshments. Participants will rotate between tables containing different book genres until they have had a chance to investigate all of them. You just might find a new favorite in the process!
The books used in this program are of different genres but all connect in some way with 2026’s summer reading theme, “Unearth a Story.” Explore how the present connects with the past through the literary time travel genre. Get a new perspective on familiar historical figures with fiction about the people behind the scenes. Follow objects and places through time in novels that chart the movements and effects of history. Learn the stories of the earth itself with nonfiction about the history of the land and our relationship with it. Discover the evolution of the artistic depiction of dinosaurs and other extinct animals in books about the growing genre of paleoart. And finally, see how accurately pioneering science fiction writers predicted their future (and our present).
This program will be held at all three library branches during the middle of June: Lander on June 15, Dubois on June 17, and Riverton on June 22. The same books will be present on all three occasions, so if you miss one, you’ll still have a chance to catch another! This event will count toward a space on your summer reading bingo card.
