(Fremont County, WY) – There will be a possibility of witnessing the Aurora Borealis tonight, according National Weather Service in Riverton meteorologist Chris Hattings, with peak visibility times happening from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Hattings states that a “Coronal Mass Ejection” occurred about a day ago, and “because the sun is 93 million miles away and it takes a little time to reach the Earth,” that ejection should be reaching us in the evening hours of tonight.
These types of ejections can potentially cause a geostorm, which inevitably is what leads to visibility of the Borealis.
