(Riverton, WY) – Following Primary Election night 2026, mayoral candidates Michael V. Bailey and Daryl West will move on to the General Election in November.
Bailey received 52.95% of the votes, 1,237 total, and West received 44.31%, with 1,035 votes. There were 64 write-in votes; the Clerk’s Office confirmed at today’s canvassing/certification that no write-ins received enough votes to qualify for the General Election Mayoral race.
“Thank you, Riverton! We are incredibly grateful for the strong vote of confidence Mike received in the primary,” Bailey shared on his Facebook campaign page following the election. “Thank you to everyone who voted, encouraged him, stood beside him, and believed in his vision for our community. One step at a time, and now we keep moving forward—together. Thank you for believing in Mike. We’re just getting started!”
“I wanted to say thank you to everybody that voted on Tuesday. I am extremely humbled by the number of people that voted for me,” West said in his post-election night results announcement. “As a newcomer running for office, I feel very proud and honored that I did so well in the primaries. I hope that from now until November I can continue to earn people’s trust and your votes. Thank you again.”
For the open Ward 1 City Council seat, Kyle M. Larson and Piram Duran will move on to the General. Larson received the most votes, 250, 49.70% of total votes, with Duran receiving 134 votes, 26.64% of the total. Levi Shull received 115 votes and will not move forward. There were only 3 write-ins.
For Ward 2, Chancey Wilczewski ran unopposed and received 655 votes. There were 13 write-ins, but no write-in candidate received enough votes to qualify to advance.
Current Mayor Tim Hancock also ran unopposed, for Ward 3, and received 840 votes. There were 47 write-ins, and County Clerk Julie Freese confirmed at today’s canvassing that one of those write-ins, Scott Ratliff, received 5 votes, more than the required 3, to qualify to move on to the General. The Clerk’s Office will reach out to Ratliff in the coming days to confirm if he would like to move forward.
