(Hudson, WY) – Popular “gas station” chain and cultural phenomenon Buc-ee’s will be coming to Wyoming sooner than anticipated, after corporate heads announced their intention to open a store in Hudson, WY, with an estimated opening date of February 29, 2027.
We put “gas station” in quotes, because anyone who has experienced a Buc-ee’s firsthand knows that the stores provide more than just gas, namely a smorgasbord of original food, treats, and merchandise that will have you coming back for more each time.
The Texas chain, which now also operates in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky, expanded to Colorado last year, leaving many wondering when/if the store would ever make its way to Wyoming.
Buc-ee’s CEO Alan Smithee shared that Wyoming has been on the company’s radar for a while, but he knew Hudson was the perfect spot after attending a van-life festival there in 2022.
“I know that Riverton is referred to as the Rendezvous City, and that Lander is “where the rails end and the trails begin,” so Hudson just seemed like the perfect nexus of these two communities for us to open a store,” Smithee shared with County 10.
“The Wyoming Department of Transportation confirmed that Hudson has anywhere between 12,300 and 46,700 drivers pass through each day, and we figured why not make this little town a place to stop rather than drive through,” Smithee added.
While the square footage of the planned facility is almost larger than the Town itself, Smithee assures “that won’t be a problem,” and promises the store will prioritize employing locals, especially ones who don’t mind dressing up in the Buc-ee’s Beaver mascot costume.
