Fremont County firefighters have been dispatched to three separate fires in the span of roughly 3 1/2 hours Tuesday afternoon.
Shortly after 1:00 p.m. the Riverton Fire Department responded to a fire at the City of Riverton Yard Waste Facility which ultimately damaged some equipment. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Nearly simultaneously, two grass fires were reported in Fremont County. A lightning strike caused a grass fire near Ocean Lake around roughly 4:15 p.m. Fire crews from Morton-Kinnear, Pavillion, and Riverton were dispatched the area of Shady Lane and Summerhill Road.
Lander and Hudson fire crews were dispatched to the Rawlins Junction near Highway 287 and Highway 28 for a grass fire also at roughly 4:15 p.m. Information was not immediately available on the cause of that fire.
Scanner traffic indicates that gusty winds are accelerating the fires at this time. County 10 will update on the situation when more information becomes available.
