(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, May 4, will feature a cold front slipping through the area. Winds will shift to the northeast at speeds of 20 to 30 mph. Expect mainly late afternoon showers.
High temperatures will be cooler due to the cold front, with highs in the low 60s. We could see a thunderstorm or two late in the afternoon, mainly along the Lander foothills, the Wind River Mountains, Beaver Rim, and Jeffrey City, with less of a chance elsewhere. Any thunderstorms will likely produce small hail and 40 mph wind gusts.
Tonight will be cloudy with widespread rain mixing with snow as a strong upslope flow establishes itself behind the front. It will be blustery, with north winds of 25 to 35 mph, and lows in the mid 30s. Snow will fall in the mountains all night.
For tomorrow, Tuesday, conditions are expected to be cold and wet with much-needed precipitation, widespread rain mixing with snow, highs only near 40, and blustery with north winds 20 to 30 mph. The snow will be heavy at times over the mountains. South Pass could expect to see 4 to 7 inches of snow by the end of the day Tuesday, and an inch or two could fall over Togwotee Pass.
