(Fremont County, WY) – County 10 meteorologist Dave Lipson has shared that today, May 5, will be cold and wet, with widespread rain mixing with snow, and highs only around 40 degrees. Expect blustery northern winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour and, at times, heavy snow up in the mountains. South Pass should see up to four to seven inches of new snow by the end of today, and an inch or two could fall over Togwotee Pass.
Tonight, snow will fall mainly before midnight, with up to a half inch of new snow over Riverton and one to two inches over Lander. Blustery north winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour will continue. Low temperatures will drop all the way into the upper 20s.
Expect another one to three inches of snow to fall over South Pass for a storm total of five to ten inches, along with some blowing and drifting of snow tonight as well over South Pass. Togwotee Pass could see another inch or two of snow.
Skies will begin to clear around sunrise Wednesday morning, with patchy fog in some areas; any fog should dissipate by 9 a.m. Otherwise, Wednesday will be sunny with high temperatures recovering to the mid-50s under sunny skies as an area of high pressure builds back into the area with light winds.
