(Fremont County, WY) – The Fremont County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of the fatal well blowout that occurred on Crooks Gap Road in southeastern Fremont County near Jeffrey City on October 22.
The deceased has been identified as 56-year-old Alan Fietkau.
The manner of death was ruled as an “accident,” and the cause of death was determined to be “suffocation/choking due to submersion in semi-fluid mud due to probable unconsciousness from gas well explosion.”
The original reporting call labeled the incident as an “explosion” involving “methane gas,” and stated that there were no other injuries reported in the incident.
