(South Pass, WY) – County 10 Meteorologist Dave Lipson measured a 126.5 mph wind gust above Red Canyon around 1 PM this afternoon, March 14. This comes after Lipson recorded himself measuring a 107.7 mph gust on Monday.
“The hand that I would have used to film was hanging onto the guard rail cable so that I wouldn’t fly off,” Lipson said as to why he didn’t record today’s gust.
Lipson added that a WYDOT sensor in the area measured a 111 mph gust between 12:18 and 12:34 PM. As of 3:30 PM, WDOT still has WY 28 roads in the South Pass area closed to all box trailers and high-profile vehicles due to the crosswinds. Click here for the most up-to-date road conditions from WYDOT
