(Riverton, WY) – The awards reception/ceremony for the Central Wyoming College (CWC) “Light of the West” national photo exhibit was held last weekend, September 14, where amateur and professional photographers shared the beautiful images they captured in various styles.
In addition to featuring the work of renowned photographers like Delsa Allen and Barrie Bryant, the exhibit included many talented artists both local and from across the country.
$5,000 in prize money was also awarded by jurors George Kahrl, Lonnie Slack and Nita Kehoe at the reception.
The categories included “Softness of moving light,” “Emerging from the light,” “Dawn,” and “Sunrise,” in addition to people’s choice, which ended up being a tie this year.
The winners/categories and the piece’s names are listed below (Note: not all winners were present to accept their awards).
- People’s Choice ($400): (Tie) Mei Ratz – “Even Cowgirls Get the Blues and Anxiety;” Delina Wille – “Small Treasures”
- Softness of Moving Light ($400): (4 Winners) Aubry Ellis – “Posse;” Larry Blackwood – “Sugar;” Rose Fry – “Branding in Progress;” John Berry – “Humphrey’s Soiree”
- Emerging from the Light ($800): Nathan McCreery – “Clearing Storm. Tie Flume Road”
- Dawn ($1,000): Mark Mass – “Broad Tailed Hummingbird #39”
- Sunrise ($1,200): Cari Antonovich – “On Her High Horse”
The artist’s work was also for sale, and it was noted at the end of the night that a piece by Aubry Ellis was purchased by a private collector at the exhibit.
